Breathlessness is when person experience shortness of the breath & difficulty in breathing called as dyspnoea. It can come suddenly (acute) or even gradually over some certain period of time (chronic). The reason for breathlessness is that the body needs more amount of oxygen than what it is getting. So breathe faster and try to increase the flow of oxygen-rich air into lungs. From the lungs, oxygen will get into the bloodstream & is pumped round the body by heart. Symptoms such as breathlessness, breathless on vigorous exertion, for example, breathless walking up slopes, running, stopping for breath after few minutes on the level.
Breathlessness will affects all of us when doing exercise, particularly if person is suffering with overweight or not fit. But unpleasant breathlessness will comes on suddenly or unexpectedly may be due to serious underlying medical condition.
Treatment will be based on the likely cause of the breathlessness. If person maintain a normal weight & do regular exercise, they are less likely to get breathless.
