Weight loss surgery is for those who are having BMI in between 35 - 39.9 along with some obesity related health issues like type 2 diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis & other obesity related issues. A candidate for the surgical weight loss should meet any of the following criteria:

• If a person is more than 100 lbs or over than the ideal body weight.
• If a person has Body Mass Index (BMI) of over than 40.
• If BMI of over than 35 & are experiencing severe health problems, like high blood pressure or diabetes, which related to being severely overweight.
• If a person is unable to achieve healthy body weight for sustained period of time, yet following medically-supervised dieting and tried all the appropriate non-surgical procedures, like diet & exercise, but they failed to achieve or maintain the beneficial level of the weight loss, then fulfilling the above criteria then a person is suitable for the weight loss surgery.
